Transaction fields

  • Amount/Deposit/Payment: In the transaction register, type the amount in either the Deposit field or the Payment field. In the detail view, type the amount in the Amount field and select Deposit or Payment. Use the format selected in the Currency tab of the Regional Settings Control Panel.
  • Balance: This column shows the current account balance.
  • Category: Select a category for this transaction. You can only assign transactions in the detail view.
  • Clr: Type an "X" in this field to mark the transaction as cleared.
  • Date: Type the date the transaction occurred. Use the date format shown for the transactions you transferred from your PC. If you are typing 2-digit years, Pocket Finance assumes any year from 61 to 99 is a year from 1961 to 1999. It assumes any year from 00 to 60 is a year from 2000 to 2060.
  • Description: Type a description for the transaction. For example, the company to which the money is paid.
  • Memo: Type any memo you want to include about this transaction. You can only add a memo in the detail view.
  • Number: Type the check number or other transaction code. Transaction codes accepted by Quicken and Money include:
    Quicken Money Description
    ATM -- cash withdrawals
    DEP -- deposits
Print Print checks to be printed
    TXFR Xfer transfers
EFT Epay electronic transfers and payments
Other -- other codes you have added to the list

Important: Pocket Finance does not restrict the Number you can type to those accepted by Quicken or Money. It also does not enter transactions in both accounts when you create a transfer.

  • SubCategory: You can also select a subcategory for a transaction in the detail view. For example, the "car" category might have subcategories for "gas" and "repairs".
